ON THE EDGE - by Lisa
I was reading a book the other day and an interesting thought popped out. The center of life is God. But most people live on the edge, or the rim if you like. For whatever reason, they just skirt around and around, never facing into the center.
So why does it matter? Well, if God really resides in the center of our lives, then we have nothing to fear. Everything is all right. We are safe. We can't "fall off" of God because he is all and we are a part of his creation. If God is love, then love is at our center.
But for some reason, we don't like to go to the center. We prefer to flit around on the edges, upset by this thought, challenged by that relationship, nervous about the economy. People who live on the edge don't have stability. They easily blow this way or that. On the edge there isn't anything to hold onto.
But if we can courageously turn and begin to walk to the center, suddenly the landscape changes. Each nervous step brings us closer to the ultimate security. We find that we aren't off-kilter as much. We are less easily upset. We have... peace.
I find that I live on the edge way too much. There is something that keeps pulling me to the rim. Somehow I keep forgetting that the center is where I belong - safe in God's arms. Do you struggle with this too? Do you find yourself adrift on the edge, constantly worried about life and all its struggles? Let's talk!
Blessings,
Lisa
