IN YOUR EYE - By Calvin Wulf

Christian Discipleship

You have heard it said, love the sinner and hate their sin, but I say to you, love the sinner and hate your own sin. I got that idea from my friend Pastor Kelly Williams of Vanguard Church here in Colorado Springs. I simply put it in terms of Jesus the rabbi.

Why worry about the speck in somebody else's eye when you have a two-by-four in your eye? Jesus wants you to stop judging everybody else and get the board out of your own eye! So stop pointing at our culture with alarm and clean up your act.

To be like Jesus means striving to live without sin and to love your neighbor. As it is written, "You have not yet given your lives in your struggle against sin." (Hebrews 12:4 NLT) Nobody ever said that following Jesus was easy. It takes a lot of effort.
