RACING THOUGHTS - By Lisa Are Wulf
Christian Prayer

I don't know about you, but my days are really busy. Between rushing to appointments and slamming to meet deadlines, my mind is on a continual racetrack. No wonder it's hard to quiet down and spend time with God. But I came across some words that might help.
"One way of recalling the mind easily during prayer and of keeping it more tranquil is not to let your mind race during the day, but to hold it close to the presence of God. Being in the habit of coming back to him from time to time, you will find it easy to remain peaceful during your prayer time, or at least to bring your mind back from distraction."
Brother Lawrence wrote this centuries ago in his book called Practicing the Presence of God. Maybe if I can stop running in overdrive, I'll have an easier time settling down for prayer. Want to give it a try too?

Yes! I've actually found this to be true recently. "Practicing the Presence of God" is a book I've been wanting to read. I just started " The Spiritual Disciplines"- Willard, I think I'll read "Practicing the Presence.." next! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Jennifer -
Hey thanks for posting. I think you would really enjoy reading Practicing the Presence. It's actually a pretty short book. But very helpful.
Thanks again,
Lisa
