TURN DOWN THE VOLUME! - By Lisa Are Wulf

Living for God

Living for God Turn Down the Volume
Maybe it's just me. But I'm troubled by the way Christians treat each other - and the world at large. We seem to be engaged in a shouting match to prove that our opinions, theology, politics, or whatever else are right. And woe to anyone who dares offer a different view.

Somehow the words of the Gospel are lost in the racket. "Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity." (Colossians 3:12-14)

No wonder people don't think much of Christians these days. It's hard to find Christ in harsh tones and demeaning words. Aren't we supposed to be known by how we love one another? Sounds like kindness, humility, gentleness and patience need to make a comeback. Where's the volume switch?

This is what can happen when we try to DEFEND the faith instead of live it! Not only is this attitude prevalent outside the church, but we, so often, forget that Christ is building His ONE church and it doesn't exist in buildings or programs, but IN His people.

      Hi Anna-Liisa -

Yup - I've been hearing the same sentiment and reaction to the blog on Facebook. Seems like it struck a chord. I think it's been our most popular yet. Way cool!!
