SPIRITUAL TASTE BUDS - By Calvin Wulf

Spiritual Life Spiritual Taste Buds

Your taste buds are in for a spiritual treat! Just accept an invitation to, "Taste and see that the Lord is good (Psalm 34:8)." But how can anyone taste God?

I recently participated in a spiritual experience of tasting Jesus as the bread of life. The table had a lavish spread of sour bread, and sweet bread, even jalapeno bread and more! This medley gave me permission to taste Jesus as the bread of life in assorted spiritual seasons. Each flavor reminded me of a different life encounter with Christ. That was truly a spiritual treat!

Our Lord gave the bread of affliction to the Hebrews as a reminder of their hasty departure from Egypt. Tasting that unleavened bread symbolized God's salvation. Bitter herbs reminded the Hebrews of their toil as slaves. Likewise, honey is sweet and scripture tells us that wisdom is sweetness to the soul.

How many flavors can you find that remind you of God?

Every Monday a group of fellow bloggers and I participate in a"Sleeping with Bread"meme. We sort out our week by the things we are going to hold on to and the things we are going to let go to God. Bread is a great description of God's word. It's sustaining, comforting and so much more.

Hi Tara, that sounds like a refreshing conversation. Redemption morsels from the Bread of Life is my favorite comfort food. Your group reminds me of the taste of sweet bread with honey-butter spread. Your sorting and keeping may even include fellowship with angels. Taste and see that the Word is good. Be blessed today!
