Living for God

Have you ever thought about being a foot soldier? Not really? Well, I haven't either. While I understand the need for a strong defense, I've never been particularly drawn to the military life. But there is a parallel with being a Christian. Are we not called to be foot soldiers for God?

If we are truly followers of Christ, we do what he asks. We usually don't have uniforms and no one would know that we're soldiers. But when he asks something of us, he has a good reason. So can we really refuse?

Sometimes the task is pleasant and it's easy to comply. But what about when the assignment is tough - when it involves hardship or sacrifice? We may even have to stand and face others who would harm us. But no matter how frightened or defenseless we may feel, we signed up to follow him. A deal is a deal.
