Spiritual Life

Silence is an essential aid to hearing. Our sense of hearing is deafened by too much noise. Human ears are tuned to the voice of God, natural human voices and other sounds of creation. So put away your iPod, turn off your cell phone, unplug your white noise and you will hear.

If the word of the Lord came to Abraham in a vision, (Genesis 15:1) then how did he hear it? In the desert silence, he heard the buzz of a fly and the sound of human voices. So Abraham was tuned in to the word of the Lord by the quiet of the day. The sounds of creation echo the sound of the Creator. The voice of the Lord whispers and the voice of the Lord thunders. Let those who have ears hear.

If you want an audible encounter with God, then go to a quiet place and listen. What do you hear?
