READ ALL ABOUT IT - By Lisa Are Wulf

Spiritual Formation

Although I'm not old enough to remember the real thing, I've seen lots of movies with newsboys hawking their wares. "Read all about it," they shouted, hoping to sell more newspapers. But is this such a good idea in the spiritual world?

There are tons of books out there about God - really terrific books with more coming out every day. And most churches these days have groups devoted to studying various kinds of theological works. This is all great. But are we so busy learning ABOUT God that we don't really KNOW God?

Now don't get me wrong. I have no issue with writing or studying theology. But at the end of the day, does it actually enhance our relationship with God? Will we have a deep and abiding sense of his presence in our lives - or merely minds filled with facts while God himself seems far away?

What do you think?
