TURNING CORNERS - By Lisa Are Wulf

Spiritual Journey

Have you ever walked a labyrinth? This ancient Christian tradition dates from around the 12th century and many cathedrals in Europe have them. They resemble a maze, except that you can't get lost. There's one way in and one way out with a series of curves and bends plus a place in the middle to pray. Kind of like life.

Recently I walked one of our local labyrinths with some friends and we compared notes afterward. One woman said she struggled with all the twists and turns because her life is full of difficult transitions right now. What a profound insight.

Approaching a curve and knowing we must turn is tough. Sometimes agonizing circumstances are thrust upon us. Other times we freely choose our course yet are unable to move our feet around the corner. But look. There's Jesus waiting just around the bend, beckoning us forward. Can you see him?

What about the turns in your life?
