ANY DUMB BEE - By Lisa Are Wulf
Christian Living

I was at a conference recently when I heard this comment, “Any dumb bee knows not to go to a closed flower.” In other words, an open flower is more receptive.
Then I ran into this quote from Thomas Brooks. “It is not the bee's [mere] touching of the flower that gathers honey, but her abiding for a time upon the flower that draws out the sweet. It is not he that reads most, but he that meditates most, that will prove the choicest, sweetest, wisest and strongest Christian.”
So do these two “bee” references actually tie together? Maybe so - in a roundabout way. The first one could easily reflect faith sharing. We’re more successful with a person who is open to our words. But the second contains a more profound truth. The longer we linger with Christ, the more deeply we know him. So it’s all about knowing where to go and how long to stay!

We are hardly going to absorb the Word of God if we keep our Bible closed.
The bee is searching for the nectar of life, are we seeking the word of life with the same enthusiasm?
