MEAN PEOPLE - by Lisa Are Wulf

God's Peace - Mean People

Why am I surrounded by mean people?  They're everywhere – on TV, on the Internet, even in my hometown. There are just too many loud, angry people. I need to get away – NOW!

Recently I took a mini-retreat in the forest. As I meditated on this problem, a familiar scripture came to mind. "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." (Psalm 91)

The weather was stormy and gray. But as the thunder approached, I heard the Lord say "Come, let us walk together away from the discord. The tempest is seething, but I am your refuge." In my mind's eye I was huddled close to him, safe in the shade of his silhouette. No matter where the racket raged, his long shadow enveloped and protected me.

How about you?
