Christian Discipleship - True Praise
I ran into an interesting quote from an anonymous source the other day. “Praise is more than singing, it’s the saint reflecting the life of Christ.” Hmmm…that pretty much nails one of my pet peeves – the idea so prevalent today that praising God is only about singing joyful songs.

Now don't get me wrong. I love to sing. But these days praising God seems to be about a certain kind of singing, at a certain time at church, on a certain day of the week. That, I fear, can lead to a certain kind of shallowness.

Life isn't always happy. It isn't always carefree. But is it not in the depths of our pain, in the loneliness of our souls, that we most often encounter God? Are we not called to honor and worship him in all circumstances? True praise is the inward surrender to a loving God and the outward reflection of his compassionate presence.

What do you think?
