SPIRITUAL KNOWLEDGE by Calvin Wulf
Spiritual Life~

Knowing God through his written word is like knowing your lover through email. You have a mental knowledge of your beloved, there may even be an emotional bond, but there will never be a marriage unless you're willing to go further. Reducing your relationship with Jesus to his written word diminishes who he is and his real presence. Christ is the Logos and is totally human as much as he is totally God. He can know and be known intimately.
Facts, names and doctrines don't build a relationship. Dialogue and sense of presence over time develops a union of intimacy. But you'll need to let Jesus out of the Bible.
We know the way. The ancient spiritual practices of contemplation and solitude open our hearts and minds to experience the abiding and real presence of Jesus. Learn from the mystics and enter into God. You can know and be fully known on this side of heaven. What are you waiting for?

I understand you point in a way, but that opening statement seems to suggest a low view of scripture.

Good Questions Have Groups Talking

On the contrary, Josh. I hold a very high view of Scripture. It is the word of God. On the other hand, it is not God. In Jesus we have access to meet God face-to-face beyond words on paper. Thanks for your observation. These are things that get groups talking.
