A Head Trip's Not a Journey

Bible study puts knowledge about God into your head but that's not a real relationship. The Bible answer guy knows a lot about what is written but still tries to force a square peg into a round hole and insists that it fits your life. Ouch, those splinters can be painful. Relationship is a dialogue rather than a one-way street! Where's the God who speaks to us with understanding and compassion?
Endless Bible studies can become a head trip, but you really want an intimate journey with Jesus. You may be longing to find a pathway that meanders on a course beyond intellectual precepts into authentic encounters with God. Think about it. A dialogue with God is more authentic than memorizing verse after verse like an actor in a play.
Real knowing and direct experiences with Jesus would be a breath of fresh air to your soul. There's a sense of awe to be found in the real presence of God. It's there for you in the spiritual discipline of meditation on scripture. Seek and find the sense of wonder you can experience in a contemplative dialogue with the author of scripture and all creation.
Meditation on scripture is a gateway to a reflective encounter with God that transfers the scriptures from the head into the heart. Now there's a journey worth making!
