Christian Prayer~
Liturgy is prayer. It is the spiritual service of God's people to God. Depending on how you approach it, liturgy is either alive with fire or dead and cold as ice. However, when you enter Christian liturgy in spirit and in truth, you transcend into a heavenly realm.
Christian liturgy is an extension of the Temple liturgy of ancient Israel. Psalms were prayed together in unison by thousands who gathered at the Temple in Jerusalem on the Day of Atonement. The apostle Paul refers to chanting the Christian liturgy in Colossians where he writes about singing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. We also include readings from the Bible just like the ancient synagogue liturgy included readings from Torah.
Much of what Christians call liturgy is scripture. We pray the Bible in a structured arrangement. Liturgy can be prayed in community or in solitude. Explore the liturgy of the church anew and you may well experience deep encounters with the living God.

My wife thinks I have gone nuts when I am speaking in tongues in prayer time and start singing them. I point her to Collosians. It is funny.
Being raise Baptist, then immersed in the Charismatic church and entering into liturgical worship I look quite different to my parents in faith and practice.

Tongues and liturgy certainly went hand in hand during the lives and times of the apostles and centuries beyond. Give me that [really] old time religion!
