Jill's Crazy Day
Her snooze button buzzes for the seventh time. Jill reaches out a sleepy arm to stop it. She rolls out of bed and into a soothing hot shower. Still wrapped in a towel, she digs through the bathroom drawer to find her eyeliner as she meticulously puts on her makeup. Next there's the styling gel and the blow dryer.
"Why does this have to take so long," she wonders, anxious to get her hair looking just right. But Jill isn't done yet.
She flips through her closet deciding what to wear. As she mentally goes through her day, a crucial presentation for her boss and casual lunch with Jen, she pulls out black slacks and a blue sweater. Backing her sporty red car out of the garage, she's faced with yet another decision. "Stop for a latte or drive straight to work?" Jill goes for the latte, feeling confident that work can wait. But the drive through line insists that the wait will be a little longer than usual.
At her office, work is, well, it's work! Lucky for Jill only 15 of her 87 new e-mails claim to be urgent. "Who invented that exclamation button anyway?" Some of the slides for her presentation need changing and then the meeting runs over. She frantically texts Jen, "Late! Hold a table."
Finally, her work day ends. Jill spins out of the office wondering where her afternoon went. After her Pilates class, she grabs some sushi at the food court and makes a last-minute dash to buy some new shoes. Good thing the store carries a bazillion colors and styles just for her.
Propped on a pillow, Jill unwinds with a little TV. She goes online just before bed to connect with her friends. Too bad it isn't that easy to connect with God. "Sorry Jesus. Tomorrow's another day."
