To Be Free

The spiritual discipline of Christian simplicity can set you free from the distractions of this world, so you can focus on Jesus and the kingdom of heaven. Who we are becomes more real and authentic when we drop the pretenses of wealth, status and entertainment.

The spiritual discipline of simplicity is a pathway that leads us into a deeper devotion toward Jesus and a true love for our neighbor. That's where we begin to move out of the kingdom of this world into the kingdom of heaven.

Simplicity exchanges the chaos of complexity for a more calm and peaceful life of simplicity. We let go of our desire to acquire and our fixation on entertainment in exchange for the peace and contentment found in simple living. Our inward lack of concern for possessions and activities found in our day-to-day world sets us free to follow Jesus more closely.

The discipline of simplicity invites us to be focused on the present moment and to be content with an ordinary life. When we drop the pretenses, we get real with God, real with ourselves, and real with the people around us.
