Living for God - Words

There is a time to tear down and a time to build up. That may be good wisdom for buildings and even institutions, but it does not apply to loving your neighbor. Jesus restores people to community, even to the chagrin of the established order.

Words can be used to tear down and words can be used to build up. Jesus said, "Love your enemies, bless those who curse you and pray for those who persecute you." This is how his disciples are to choose their words.

The marketplace of media screams words that divide and disparage. How do we respond as Christian disciples? Listen to the suffering of humanity, and then speak words that heal and build up people who are being torn down.

I have not always done this so well. But as Christ is formed in me, may my words and even my thoughts become more loving towards all people.
