Spiritual Formation~
"People who love life on earth will lose it, people who let go of life in this world will grow spiritually in the realm of eternal life (John 12:25 PAR )."
Letting go of people, places and things are significant steps along the spiritual path. Jesus clearly tells us that we must let go if we want to enter his eternal realm. It is not so much about salvation as it is about living in Christ. The eternal realm he speaks of exists in this life.
There is nothing bad or evil about this world. After all, the Creator made all things good. But Jesus asks, "Do you love me more than these things?"
I have learned that letting go can be very hard and sometimes painful. Some things, I don't want to let go. At the same time, the disciplines of letting go are easy and gentle. In solitude , we come to encounter ourselves on God's terms. In meditation , we come to receive God's living revelation. In contemplation , we come to behold God face-to-face.
These are quiet disciplines. The ways of Christ are easy. You only need to decide where to begin.
