Spiritual Formation~
"Whoever serves me must have union with me. Where I am, my servant is with me. My Father will honor all people who serve me (John 12:26 PAR)."
Holding on to what we love in the material world blocks birth from above. It chokes out spiritual life in Jesus. Such a life is like the seed that falls among thorns that grow up and choke out the plant.
The ways of letting go of life on earth involve service to Christ. The path begins in spending time alone with Jesus. Next, we learn to follow his example of loving God the Father and our neighbors. We grow in love with Jesus as we give up our will for his will. Ultimately, we are able to receive and accept honor from the Father.
Self-serving patterns yield to a new master. Jesus takes the place of self-interest. In union with Christ, our service is to him and we enter into his glory. Why not take on the yoke of Jesus?
