Where love prevails in human hearts there is peace among the peoples. Meditate on that. Can you appreciate this vision of community?
It is remarkable that John, the disciple who Jesus loved, came to be known as the Apostle of Love. He says, "Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action." John understands that love urges us to help and defend people who need us.
The journey toward living a life of love can be a difficult trail. Spiritual disciplines like contemplation and solitude are tools that Jesus can use to shape our hearts for this kind of selfless love.
Spiritual struggle may be painful at times but the Spirit always bends the pilgrim toward love. Jesus revealed the love of the Father in every word and every action. Become complete like your Father in heaven.
Let the love of Christ be formed in you to love your neighbor in truth and action.
