A LONG JOURNEY - by Calvin Wulf

Christian Discipleship~

christian-discipleship-a-long-journey

Setting spiritual goals is the sign of a disciple who has accepted ownership of their journey with Jesus. She has set a goal to study a book of the Bible for personal growth. He has set a goal of daily prayer and reflection with a devotional guide that speaks to his heart. These are worthy goals for people who are taking the kingdom by force.

Disciples like these have committed to a long journey on a hard trail. They have entered a contest like the apostle Paul who wrote, "I press on towards the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus."

The ultimate goal is to know Christ intimately and to become like him. It's a long journey toward a goal that even the great apostle admitted he had not obtained. But every goal accomplished and every spiritual discipline mastered reveals more of Christ in you day- by-day and year-by- year. Be glad for the long journey.
