MY ESCAPE - by Calvin Wulf

Spiritual Struggles~

I struggle with clinical depression. That slow mind in the fog sensation and the other extreme of racing thoughts are familiar frustrations. As I said in my earlier post, it's all in your head.

Anywhere on that slow mind to racing thought spectrum, all I want to do is escape. Well, I have found a way and a place to escape. The place is like the Garden of Eden in the presence of God.

The quietness of Christian contemplation provides a way and a place to escape all that's in your head. The spiritual discipline of contemplation will train you to sharpen your mind and slow down your thoughts. It offers a quiet place inside your heart where you can hide in the Father.

Depression may always be a struggle for me. My genetic makeup and my biology are geared for that hard road. But there's a place I can get to where I'm free in the Spirit. Contemplation is the way I get there.
