PRIDE and JUSTICE - by Calvin Wulf

A choice to work for social justice is a deliberate decision to be present among the poor and the outcasts as Jesus was among them. There is dinner table conversation and the going along to advocate with those who have no voice. There is no room for personal pride in the work of social justice.

Jesus gave himself so completely that he was willing to suffer controversy, threats, insults and ultimately a cruel death. You see, he identified with injustice so much as to be treated unjustly himself. Follow Jesus into the work of social justice and people will follow you into freedom.

Anyone who serves out of pride, self-satisfaction, or self-reliance will be beaten down by the forces of evil that create injustice. But if you lose your pride and serve in the compassionate name of Christ, you will see transformation. Without the divine name, people will be fed but transformation will elude all your efforts.
