I really appreciate you sending me that historical exploration of Lent but I think I will stick with celebrating Passover from a Christian context. I see more precedence Biblically (in the New Testament) for celebrating Passover than Lent and Easter (1 Cor. 5).

I love the Passover dinner too. It helps to remember the Exodus from Egypt and is a wonderful foreshadowing of redemption on the cross. I hope to publish a free download on the history and practices of Lent in the early church soon. Stay tuned, maybe even subscribe to the blog.

Didn't Jesus and His inner circle celebrate Passover? As a Christian I celebrate Passover because it has so many pictures and symbols of Jesus in it. I'd love some resources on why I should celebrate Lent. Any historical references I could look at? Thanks!

As a human, we can't deny the fact that worries and fear is part of our lives. We tend to worry even to some minor things. But as what He already stated, we should cast all our cares on him to let go of this fear and doubt. We should cast all our cares on him for he cares for us.

Joy, I see no real trouble. Your faith may be wondering out in the wilderness right now. Your soul may be troubled, but not IN trouble. This entry is my experience, as a man, in how I approach intimacy with God. It is simply where I am in my journey right now. Approaching God as father is just as intimate and tender. My guess is that something has shaken your relationship with God in whatever image has worked for you in the past. Remember that faith is a journey and so is your relationship with God. As my wife and I have agreed in our marriage, we always work things out. What are you working out right now in your relationship with God?

I can really feel your emotion here...Truthfully I have never ever felt such intimate longings for God...I used to be repelled by the imagery of bride-groom relating to our relationship with Jesus...I was always very connected to the idea of God as father...but I feel disappointed with that ideology and experience personally these days too.
I'm in BIG trouble aren't I?

On the contrary, Josh. I hold a very high view of Scripture. It is the word of God. On the other hand, it is not God. In Jesus we have access to meet God face-to-face beyond words on paper. Thanks for your observation. These are things that get groups talking.
